Presenters Bio The ME/CFS Society of NSW aims to provide information and support to all who are affected by ME./CFS. By promoting accurate awareness of ME/CFS, through medical and scientific knowledge, we strive to assist sufferers and enhance biopsychosocial qualities of life. Through education we aim to promote better medical care and increased social awareness and support for all people affected by ME/CFS.
The Society is partially supported by a grant form the NSW Government’s Department of Health. The society does also depend on membership fees, fundraising, donations and many volunteers to do its work.
Our presenters are both young adults completing secondary and tertiary education. They are sufferers of ME-CFS and aim to share their experiences and challenges faced whilst attending school and negotiating the many challenges of studying, socialising, learning, and living with ME-CFS.
Session Outline • Promote accurate diagnosis
• Understanding symptoms- the challenging diagnostic criteria
• The ME/CFS pathway- understanding the effects upon nervous, endocrine and immune systems
• Student health- signals, symptoms and cues to action of professional teaching staff
• Educational alternatives for students
