  • Presenter Sharryn Llewellyn
  • Organisation Benevolent Society
  • Presenters Bio The Benevolent Society works with older people, children, women and carers across NSW. We provide a range of programs to support communities and advocate for the needs of disadvantaged individuals. Carers are a major focus of our efforts across South East Sydney, where we deliver respite, information and care services. We assist carers across the life cycle, caring for children with disablities, for ageing parents, for family members with terminal illnesses or for a sibling or friend with a chronic illness. Sharryn Llewellyn has worked in the aged and disability sector for 15 years, in the areas of community development, policy and fundraising. For the past three years she has been the Manager of the South East Sydney Commonwealth Carer Respite and Carelink Centre, which provides respite, support and information to carers and members of the community.
  • Session Outline Caring for a family member or friend can be a full-time job. When combined with paid work responsibilities, there is often little time to think about your needs as a carer. This session will explore the valuable role of carers and how to get support and advice in maintaining a balance in your life.
