  • Presenters Bio Don is Senior Family Therapist with Intensive Family Support Options (IFSO), one of the family support programs run by The Spastic Centre for families that have a child or teenager with a disability.

    Don has a social work background, with many years of experience in counseling of children, teenagers and families in a variety of settings. He is interested in family support approaches which assist clients and families to generate ideas for progress that fit for them, make a difference, and which draw on their own resource base.

  • Session Outline The goal of this session is to identify ideas and strategies that people find helpful in the challenge of the juggle of health, work demands and care for a person with a disability.

    The workshop will be run as an interactive session. Participants will be invited, in a structured process facilitated by Don, to have conversations with each other about what works for people in meeting these challenges. People will be invited to draw on their own personal experiences, or on their knowledge of what they have heard from others about meeting this challenge.

    From these conversations, general themes of what are some effective strategies will be identified.
